More about the woman killed last Sat. morning (3am. after *what sounded like to me* a night of heavy drinking) by MTA trains...

You read that right, she was killed by "trains" not just one train. It's maybe a little unusual, although I can't say for sure, only the cops who pick up the bodies and investigate these things would know. Maybe it's not too atypical for someone to get clipped by one train, but knocked into the path of another.

This was different though. The NY Post reported that the woman "had somehow become wedged between the platform and the train."

NY Daily News reported: "The train had already been pulling out of the station for 100 feet when she touched the side."

While mulling this, I recalled that 14th St.-Union Square, where this happened, is the only one I've seen which has a moving platform.

The moving platform is designed to close a larger-than-usual gap between the platform and train which is apparently caused by the curved platform and track there. Once the train has stopped, the metal section of platform moves out maybe another 8 inches (or less).

There must be video of this incident - this is one of the busiest stations in Manhattan - so you'd think it wouldn't be a mystery. When the train pulls out - link - you can see the moving platform retracts.

With this kind of machinery in place, her state of mind (she'd had a bad experience at work, according to her boyfriend, and had been out with a co-worker the whole night, possibly or probably drinking heavily), her youth and the fact that she was a transplant from Summerville, SC who had only been in the city for 3-4 years at most (she met and fell in love with her surviving bf in Sept. 2016), it seems possible she could've been standing on the moving platform, unaware that it would move again AFTER the train begins to roll out. Rationally, you would think the platform would retract before the train moves an inch.
